Rowena Ockendon-Day

Codham Park Accredited Jumpcross Instructor Rowena Ockendon-Day has been involved in the equestrian world all her life. coming from a Horsey family, she started off in the Pony Club and enjoyed all it had to offer! Eventing, Pony Club Games, before specialising in Showjumping.

Through this discipline she was lucky enough to be selected for European Teams and compete at all the best shows in the UK, and some of the best shows in Europe.

Through her formative years, Rowena was a working pupil at the yard of the great John Whitaker.  Here she learnt not only about riding and producing horses but also the management and business side of this sport.  This, she feels stood her in good stead to branch out on her own, producing, competing and selling her own and also owners horses whilst revisiting other disciplines such as Dressage.  This in turn, led to intensive training with a renowned classical dressage trainer from Germany.

Now Rowena focuses much of her time on teaching, from which she gets much pleasure, watching the development of both horse and rider.  She feels that her wealth of experience (showjumping, both nationally and internationally, and of other disciplines) has helped her hone her patient and subtle approach to her pupils as well as a quiet determination to achieve the best for all concerned.

She has a lovely manner with young horses and nervous riders, balanced with the ability to challenge those more experienced.
